The Senior Ministerial Liaison Officer is responsible for the efficient management and quality control of Ministerial correspondence and briefings, including regular review of related systems and processes. This role monitors and oversees the coordination and facilitation of Ministerial processes to ensure the delivery of timely and high-quality responses. The Senior Ministerial Liaison Officer works collaboratively with staff across the WA health system, Minister’s offices and public sector agencies to provide advice and support on ministerial processes, procedures, systems and protocols.
- Manage and coordinate ministerial correspondence to ensure timely responses (e.g. briefing notes, urgent requests)
- Assign incoming requests to appropriate staff and track progress within deadlines
- Review and quality-check documents to meet required standards
- Support complex research, investigations, and analysis for sensitive or urgent matters
- Liaise with internal teams, senior management, and external stakeholders to ensure smooth communication
- Provide advice on ministerial processes, protocols, and quality standards
- Support training and communication initiatives to improve correspondence quality and timeliness
- Prepare and deliver presentations to stakeholders on standards and processes
- Produce performance reports on workload, timelines, and outputs
- Assist with resource coordination (staffing, budget, and operational needs)
- Maintain accurate electronic records and documentation
- Contribute to improving systems, processes, and best practices
- Conduct research and support projects as required
- Perform other duties as needed
Essential selection criteria
1. Demonstrated experience in the coordination of ministerial and departmental correspondence with knowledge of Government processes, protocols and procedures.
2. Well-developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including the ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders.
3. Well-developed organisation and time management skills and the ability to meet strict deadlines.
4. Demonstrated ability to work independently, with the ability to exercise appropriate initiative.
5. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment with a willingness to share knowledge and support team members.
