  • Required: current national police clearance and class C driver's license
  • Essential: experience as urban forest/tree officer with some office experience
Position Objective
  • Coordinate the safe, efficient, and effective response to unplanned tree-related issues (e.g., storm damage, tree failures, debris).
  • Oversee delivery of powerline pruning and tree planting programs in line with contracts and City requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Unplanned Arboriculture Works
  • Assess and prioritise tree-related requests from residents, Councillors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Conduct site inspections and determine required actions.
  • Manage emergency responses, including site safety, contractor coordination, traffic management, and utility liaison.
  • Allocate work to internal crews or contractors using work management systems.
  • Monitor completion of works and communicate outcomes to customers.
  • Ensure requests are resolved within Customer Service Charter timeframes.
Powerline Pruning Program
  • Oversee seasonal powerline pruning operations.
  • Conduct regular inspections of contractor work.
  • Liaise with electrical safety auditors regarding contractor performance and compliance.
  • Monitor pruning progress and identify/address missed works.
Tree Planting Program
  • Coordinate annual tree planting schedules and logistics.
  • Notify residents of upcoming planting activities.
  • Identify and mark planting locations with crews.
  • Schedule tree deliveries and establishment watering.
  • Liaise with contractors to ensure successful program delivery.
General Duties
  • Identify, report, and arrange remediation of tree failures.
  • Support tree maintenance and resident tree programs.
  • Coordinate equipment issues, stock purchases, purchase orders, and invoice processing.
  • Maintain procedures, work instructions, and records within company systems.
  • Provide high-quality customer service and stakeholder engagement.
  • Collaborate across teams and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Promote workplace diversity, inclusion, and respectful behaviour.
  • Comply with WHS and environmental requirements.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements.
  • Perform other duties within the scope of the role.

Position Requirements
Skills
  • Strong digital literacy and experience using work management, reporting, and data collection systems.
  • Ability to independently plan, prioritise, and deliver programs.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel), records management, and finance systems.
Knowledge
  • Arboriculture principles and practices.
  • Contract management processes.
  • Relevant Work Health and Safety requirements.
Experience
  • Assessing tree-related issues and coordinating remedial works.
  • Delivering seasonal arboriculture programs.
  • Managing and working with contractors.
