Customer Service officer (Incentive Program)(CPAO)
Duties are split into 4 roles (New Patients, Day Patients, Repeat Patients and ED CPAO)
New Patients
are those that have come in since the previous day and admitted into the hospital and have elected to use their private health – we pull this list twice a day (morning and afternoon)
Day Patients
are those who are in for a same day procedure and have elected to use their private health – we pull this list multiple times throughout the day as admission times differ
Repeat Patients
are those who have elected to use their private health and have been in for 2 or more days
ED CPAO
is required to meet with all patients that present to the emergency department to determine their Medicare eligibility and if required take pre-payments for treatment.
We conduct their eligibilities online before going to see the patient (except HBF who’s must be done over the phone and with the patient and /or authorised contact on the policy)
Paperwork is completed and scan. While completing paperwork we deliver private patient packs to the patients
Once our round is completed, we return to the office to update the Private Patient Spreadsheet to indicate what paperwork we obtained, the pack number, when they are due again, the details of their policy
Upload the required documentation to OnBase
Once all available paperwork completed by the patient is checked off the main team spreadsheet in Excel, it is scanned through to Accounts Receivable for raising the invoices related to this patient’s episode
Other duties include:
- Answering inbound calls from patients, ward clerk and internal and external organisations
- Making up the private patient packs
- Actioning system Edit Checks and invoice flags - so that invoices can be raised by SMHS AR
For patients who hold appropriate cover for their admission to use Private Health in our Public Hospital, we offer the following incentives:
- Waive any excess applicable to their policy
- Provide a daily parking, meal and newspaper voucher packs
- Toiletries
- Guarantee these patients no out of pocket for their admission
Private patients (health.wa.gov.au)
Having patients use their private health in a public hospital generates revenue for the hospital and allows upgrade facilities and equipment etc.
The suitable candidates will have;
- Well-developed communication negotiation and interpersonal skills including the ability to liaise effectively with patients and all levels of staff.
- Excellent customer service focus and ability to work positively and effectively as part of a team.
- Demonstrated organisational skills and the ability to manage high work standards and meet Key Performance Indicators and deadlines.
- Practical experience using computers including the use of word processing and excel.
- It would be an advantage if they have knowledge and understanding of health care financial systems and processes. However, training will be provided.
- PLEASE NOTE roles require significant amount of walking 60% and 40% computer work.
