As a Law Clerk
, you will work under the supervision of senior law clerks and lawyers, contributing to the effective management of legal matters and providing essential administrative and paralegal support.
You will assist with file management, legal research, document preparation and client service while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy at all times.
Legal file management
- Examine and follow client and supervisor instructions
- Prepare routine court documents and draft correspondence
- Conduct routine legal research, including locating case law and witness information
- Attend Registries and Courts to file and serve legal documents
- Respond to routine procedural enquiries
- Arrange payment of invoices and accounts
Information & knowledge management
- Use legal and office systems for file creation, data entry and document retrieval
- Update information management systems and record time for billing
- Work across TRIM, Open Practice, EDMS, Time & Matter Costing, Word, Excel and Lotus Notes
Administrative support
- Photocopying, binding and document collation
- General filing and maintenance of orderly, accurate records
Skills & Capabilities
- Interpretation
— Ability to interpret and apply legislation, rules, policies and procedures
- Communication
— Clear verbal communication; accurate written communication including drafting routine legal documents
- Time management
— Able to prioritise work, meet deadlines and maintain an organised workstation
- Information management
— Able to record, store and use information effectively
- Computing skills
— Confident using Word, Excel, Lotus Notes and databases
Required:
- Residency / Citizenship
- Available full time hours Monday -Fridays
- Some Legal Admin / Paralegal experience
