We are seeking an experienced Bookkeeping Assistant
to support our client ASAP.

You will join an established commercial business. This position would ideally suit someone who enjoys taking ownership, can confidently manage competing priorities, and is happy to step outside a traditional finance role to support the wider business.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Simpro (or similar job management system) and Xero
, particularly high-volume accounts payable processing from Simpro through to Xero, as well as weekly payroll for a team of 40+ employees.
We are looking for someone who can think for themselves, identify what needs to be done, communicate confidently and pitch in wherever needed.
Key responsibilities
- Process high-volume accounts payable
, including the workflow from Simpro through to Xero
- Manage weekly Xero payroll for 40+ employees
- Ensure payroll is processed accurately and in accordance with relevant Award legislation and superannuation requirements
- Assist with builder claims
, including updating claims and receipting builder payments
- Perform Xero reconciliations
- Assist with employee onboarding
in Simpro and Xero
- Maintain accurate document control
- Manage and understand retention balances
- Provide general administrative and finance support as required
- Liaise confidently with internal and external customers
- Manage competing priorities and additional tasks as they arise
About you
You will ideally have:
- Hands-on experience with Simpro and Xero
— this is a key requirement
- Strong experience processing high-volume accounts payable
- Previous experience with weekly payroll for 40+ employees
- A sound understanding of Australian Award legislation and superannuation compliance
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- The ability to confidently reconcile accounts and investigate discrepancies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to manage multiple priorities without losing sight of deadlines
- A proactive, flexible approach and willingness to take on additional responsibilities
- The confidence to work independently and use initiative
- Experience with Dext (formerly Receipt Bank)
would be highly regarded
Salary:
The salary is $74,000–$83,000 pro rata + superannuation
based on a 35 hour work week
(based on the full-time equivalent salary range of $80,000–$90,000 for a 38-hour week)
