$63.34 per hour + Super
Full-Time, Monday to Friday Office Hours

Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Freedom of Information Officer to join their team on an initial six-month contract.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of information release processes, and the ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.

This role is busy and will need someone who is quick, able to hit the ground running!


In this role, you will be responsible for managing Freedom of Information applications and supporting the release of information in accordance with relevant legislation and departmental policy.

  • Receiving, assessing and processing applications requesting access to confidential information under the Freedom of Information Act 1992 and other relevant legislation.
  • Reviewing, analysing and assessing documents for release.
  • Preparing responses to FOI applications and related requests.
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders, external agencies and members of the public regarding information release matters.
  • Providing advice on information management, confidentiality, privacy and information release obligations.
  • Ensuring compliance with legislative requirements, departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining the security, integrity and confidentiality of sensitive information and records.

About You

To be successful in this position, you will demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of the Freedom of Information Act 1992 and related legislation as it applies to information release, confidentiality and privacy.
  • Exceptional written communication skills with the ability to produce clear, accurate and high-quality correspondence.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to effectively manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Well-developed conceptual, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  • Experience working with sensitive information in a government, regulatory or similar environment.

Requirements:

  • NPC within 6 months old
  • Permanent resident / no visa restrtictions
