Role Purpose:
To provide research and information support for maintaining and updating the Incursion Readiness Directory for plant pests and diseases, assisting senior officers responsible for preparedness and response planning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research plant pest and disease information from established national and international sources.
- Summarise and record information into pre‑defined templates, registers and SharePoint lists.
- Maintain document links, references and metadata to support accuracy and traceability.
- Assist with identifying information or template gaps or inconsistencies for escalation to senior staff.
- Draft clear, fit for purpose work instructions or supporting documentation where templates or guidance are missing, under direction and review by senior officers.
- Provide general information and document support to preparedness activities as directed.
Required Skills and Experience
Essential:
- Tertiary qualification (completed or near completion) in a biology related discipline (e.g. biology, plant science, agriculture, environmental science).
- Ability to read, understand and summarise technical or scientific information.
- Strong attention to detail and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively under direction in a structured team environment.
Desirable:
- Interest in plant pests, diseases or biosecurity.
- Experience with SharePoint, Excel or structured information systems.
- Familiarity with scientific or technical literature.
- Exposure to biosecurity response activities and/or a developing understanding of biosecurity systems and frameworks.
