  • Location: Cloverdale
  • Rate: $60 - $63 per hour, depending on experience
  • Fulltime hours, Monday-Friday
  • Commence: ASAP for approx 12 months
  • Must have Current National Police Clearance (within last 12 months)

Successful candidate should have:
  • End to end payroll processing experience
  • Proven experience in interpreting Industrial Agreements, policies, procedures, legislation relevant to payroll (including taxation, workers compensation, long service leave regulations etc)
  • Systems administration experience including configuration experience

1. Payroll Operations and Compliance
  • Manage day-to-day payroll activities to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with Industrial Agreements, legislation, and policies.
  • Oversee HR/Payroll system (Aurion) administration — upgrades, testing, troubleshooting, and training.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance, identify risks, and implement controls.
  • Provide Finance with reconciliations, reports, and payment information within deadlines.
  • Ensure payroll processes and records meet audit and legislative standards.
  • Liaise on workers’ compensation claims and related payments.
  • Monitor and update payroll procedures and documentation to maintain quality control and compliance.
  • Manage 2 x fortnightly pay runs that are processed on opposite weeks (one pay run for approx. 70 employees and the other pay run for approx. 200 employees).
2. Leadership, Advisory and Collaboration
  • Supervise payroll staff, allocating workloads and providing training and development.
  • Offer professional advice on pay, superannuation, salary sacrifice, and entitlements.
  • Support People & Culture initiatives and assist in implementing strategic HR/payroll improvements.
  • Handle staff enquiries, complaints, and correspondence with a customer-focused approach.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and external agencies (e.g., ATO, LGIS, Superannuation Plan, other councils).
  • Promote Equal Opportunity, Diversity, and compliance with WHS and environmental policies.
3. Reporting, Analysis and Continuous Improvement
  • Prepare and deliver regular and ad hoc reports for internal and external bodies (ATO, superannuation, government departments).
  • Identify and report on trends such as leave patterns or pay anomalies for further investigation.
  • Research and present reports or information sessions as required.
  • Encourage and implement system, policy, and process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency and compliance.
  • Coordinate training and education sessions on payroll-related topics.
  • Oversee secure storage and archiving of personnel records, ensuring confidentiality and legislative compliance.
