  • Must have, or be willing to obtain a National Police Clearance (dated within 3 months)
Responsibilities:
  • Undertake the preparation of the end of financial year accounts (including notes and supporting documentation) in accordance with Australian Accounting standards, Financial Management Act (FMA) and PTA accounting policies and procedures.
  • Undertake the preparation of monthly/quarterly balance sheet reconciliation and month end journals, including payroll reconciliations.
  • Assist with the preparation and submission of the quarterly Strategic Information Management System reporting, and the monthly finance report.
  • Undertake the monthly processing of journals.
  • Undertake a range of financial accounting and reporting activities relating to leases and ensure that they are in compliance with financial legislation, Australian Accounting Standards and government policy directives, including statutory reporting requirements.
  • Maintain information systems to provide up to date lease information. This includes liaison with relevant business units to ensure that changes to lease is adequately considered and recorded.
  • Undertake quality assurance processes to maintain effective leasing and payment controls, including accountability mechanisms, including the review of the GL/contracts register for the identification of unreported leases arrangements.
  • Undertake the forecasting of future lease liability for inclusion into the corporate budgeting and forecast.
  • Undertake other duties as required

Core Competencies:
  • Possession of a tertiary qualification in Finance or Commerce or equivalent with eligibility for membership to one of the professional bodies (ICAA, CPA Australia or IPA).
  • Considerable knowledge and practical application of Taxation legislation as it applies to Government agencies, in particular FBT and GST.
  • Proven financial management experience in an accrual-based environment, including experience in the use of corporate Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and spreadsheets.
  • Demonstrated experience in interpreting Australian Accounting Standards and Treasurer’s Instruction and applying a range of financial management governance and legislative requirements.
