Role Summary

This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering civic and corporate functions for the city, including citizenship ceremonies, mayoral and civic dinners, stakeholder events, and community functions. The role oversees event logistics, catering, compliance (Food Safety, RSA, WHS), budgeting, procurement, and contractor management to ensure events are delivered professionally and within budget.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Managing end-to-end event planning (project plans, protocols, staging, invitations, seating, risk assessments).
  • Supervising catering services, contractors, and food & beverage staff.
  • Ensuring compliance with food safety, alcohol licensing, WHS, and relevant legislation.
  • Managing bookings and operations for Civic Centre rooms and equipment.
  • Monitoring budgets, stock, and equipment for civic functions.
  • Preparing reports, performance indicators, and event documentation.
  • Developing stakeholder relationships and supporting PR & Stakeholder Engagement activities.
  • Coordinating speeches, briefings, printed materials, and event communications.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement, customer service excellence, and a safe, inclusive workplace

  • Proven ability to supervise staff and achieve agreed outcomes.
  • Sound decision-making, problem-solving, and discretion.
  • Excellent organisational, administrative, and event management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines.
  • Experience developing and reviewing workplace processes and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Understanding of relevant Work Health & Safety requirements.

The position also requires (or the ability to obtain) relevant certifications and clearances, including:
  • White Card (Construction Induction)
  • Police Clearance
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA)
  • Food Safety Supervision Skill Set

A current driver’s licence is desirable
