We are seeking an Inspections & Review Officer
to support a small, high-performing project team responsible for inspection, review, and monitoring activities across custodial facilities within the state. This role sits within an independent statutory body
based in Perth CBD
that reports directly to Parliament and plays a critical role in maintaining transparency, accountability, and performance standards within custodial services.
The organisation undertakes inspections of prisons, detention centres, court custody centres, and prescribed police lock-ups, as well as targeted reviews into custodial experiences and service delivery. The successful candidate will contribute to evidence-based inspections and review projects through research, analysis, stakeholder engagement, and report preparation.
Key Responsibilities
Inspection and Review Project Delivery
- Undertake research and analysis of data from a wide range of sources to support inspection and review findings.
- Contribute to the delivery of inspection and review projects in line with established methodologies, timeframes, and quality standards.
- Manage allocated project responsibilities while ensuring compliance with governance, risk, and quality requirements.
- Assist with preparing inspection reports, briefings, and supporting documentation.
- Identify opportunities to improve project processes, systems, and work practices.
Research and Planning
- Conduct research into correctional and custodial issues to support inspections and reviews.
- Undertake environmental scanning to identify emerging trends, risks, and best practice in custodial services.
- Assist with planning activities for inspection and review programs.
- Apply qualitative and quantitative research methods, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Support consultation and engagement activities associated with inspection and review projects.
- Provide timely insights on emerging issues to support project leads and program delivery.
